Ceramics
My work consists mainly of unique hand-formed stoneware: sculptures / objects.
I work in series and always start with the theme.
Many of my ceramic objects are inspired by natural structure.
Finds and (microscope) photos are among my sources.
My work contains elements from the colorful world of minerals, shells and coral,
but also of fossils.

Method

The (garden) statues are designed and made so that they are draining. They are resistant to outdoor temperatures, even against the frost. The work is built up hollow with coils of clay. Characteristic is my way of decorating: with color dots (sometimes dashes), similar to pointillism in painting. The colors are composed of different glaze materials and oxides. Afterwards, the work is fired at 1000°C (bisque), this makes the colors to burn in the clay and the clay petrified. Transparent glaze is then applied and the work is again fired at 1220°-1240°C in an electric ceramic oven.

Oloids

The oloid is a geometric body that was invented by the Swiss inventor, mathematician and artist Paul Schatz. The shape is created when you merge 2 circles at an angle of 90 ° in such a way that the rim of one passes through the axis of the other. The reverse is also the case. The oloid is characterized by the tumbling movement with which it, moving over its entire own surface, moves over a flat surface.

Möbius

The Möbius strip is named after the mathematician and astronomer August Ferdinand Möbius.
Is is a spatial figure with only one plane and one edge. Escher is famous for depicting the Möbius strip in three dimensions, as a grid on which ants walk.
Starting from other geometric shapes (sphere, cube, etc.) different (pseudo) shapes can be created.
